(BERWYN)  A woman and four police officers were injured in a fire early Wednesday in west suburban Berwyn.

Crews were called to the scene of a fire at an apartment building in the 3200 block of Maple shortly after 1 a.m., Berwyn Fire Department officials said.

The fire had been extinguished and all crews had left the scene by 4:15 a.m., fire officials said.

One resident injured in the fire was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood with burns, Fire Chief Denis O’Halloran told a reporter at the scene. Fire officials said she was a woman thought to be in her 40s.

Four Berwyn police officers hurt in the fire were treated for minor injuries and released from area hospitals, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation Wednesday morning.
