(CHICAGO) A man was found dead with multiple gunshot and stab wounds in a Near West Side apartment Monday night.
About 9 p.m., Chicago Fire Department crews responded to a fire alarm in an apartment in the 100 block of North Wood, police said.
After forcing their way inside, they found 60-year-old Robert Smith lying face down with multiple gunshot and stab wounds, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Smith, who lived in the same block where he was found, was pronounced dead at the scene, the medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy to determine the cause and manner of his death is scheduled for Tuesday.
