(ROLLING MEADOWS) Three people are accused in a shooting that injured two people last week during a drug deal gone bad in northwest suburban Wheeling.
Jasmine Garcia, 19, Rakwan Crosby, 17; and Antonio Collins, 17, are all charged as adults with aggravated robbery and aggravated battery with a firearm, according to a statement from Wheeling police.
They had arranged to meet the victim Feb. 10 in the 400 block of McHenry Road in order to buy cannabis, but they were planning to rob the person, police claim.
During the encounter, one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and announced a robbery, sparking an exchange of gunfire, police claim.
The victim was shot in the chest, but has since been released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
About 40 minutes later, a second person from the same incident showed up at a local hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. That person was also later released from the hospital but authorities declined to give further details, citing the ongoing investigation.
Garcia, of the 300 block of Glasgow Lane in Schaumburg, was ordered held on a $30,000 bond at a hearing at the Rolling Meadows courthouse, police said.
Crosby, of the 1600 block of Larson Lane in Roselle, was ordered held on a $100,000 bond, police said. Collins, of the 500 block of Gundersen Drive in Carol Stream, was ordered held on a $500,000 bond.
All three will next appear in court Wednesday for a preliminary hearing, police said.
