(Chicago) The National Weather Service has issued a FLOOD WARNING for the Thorn Creek at Thornton, starting at 1pm this afternoon thru 3am Monday morning. Rainfall of three quarters of an inch to a little over two inches since Saturday afternoon has caused area rivers and streams to rise.
At 830AM Sunday, the stage was 8.4 feet (Flood stage is 10.0 feet). Minor flooding is forecast but may rise above flood stage this afternoon and rise to near 10.4 feet this evening. The river is expected to fall below flood stage later tonight. if you encounter a flooded roadway, turn around and find an alternate route.
The Weather Channel is calling for a partly sunny Sunday, with thunderstorms returning this afternoon. High of 83.
Thunderstorms continue early with some clearing later tonight, a low of 70.
Thunderstorms return on Monday, high of 80.
