(CHICAGO) An economy parking lot at O’Hare International Airport will close starting Wednesday as construction gets under way on a new rental car facility set to open in 2018.

Starting July 15, no vehicles will be allowed to enter remote Parking Lot F at the southeast corner of Mannheim and Zemke roads, according to the city Department of Aviation. Vehicles already parked inside Lot F must be removed by Aug. 1.

The lot will become the site of a new facility that will house all of the airport’s rental car companies, the department said. The project will also include 2,600 public parking spaces in a new garage.

The project was announced in 2013. The Airport Transit System will also be extended to reach the new facility, which should open sometime in 2018, the department said.

While the facility is under construction, travelers will still be able to park in Economy Lots G and E. The daily rate for Lot G will drop from $14 to $10 at the beginning of August, and the daily rate for Lot E will remain at $17.

Lot F was previously O’Hare’s least-expensive on-airport parking lot, costing $9 per day, according to the department’s website.

The O’Hare Cell Phone Lot, currently inside Lot F, will move to a new site west of Besse Coleman Drive across from Lot E.
