(CHICAGO) An extra-alarm fire broke out at a Bridgeport plumbing service warehouse early Tuesday on the South Side.
A wall had already collapsed when crews responded about 1 a.m. to the fire at DiFoggio Plumbing & Sewer Contractors, 3220 S. Shields, according to Chicago Fire Media Affairs.
A second alarm was called in about 2 a.m. as firefighters took a “defensive mode,” officials said. The blaze was extinguished by 3 a.m. No one was hurt.
Witnesses told reporters at the scene that they heard an explosion before flames shot out the roof of the building.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
