(CHICAGO) Bond was set at $100,000 Tuesday for an East Garfield Park man charged with breaking into two Near West Side businesses and stealing cash registers earlier this month.
Scott Baranski, 34, faces two felony counts of burglary for breaking into the businesses in University Village and Noble Square, according to Chicago Police.
The first break-in happened about 11:15 a.m. on July 6 in the 1300 block of West Chicago, followed by another about 3 a.m. on July 20 in the 1000 block of West Taylor, police said.
Police issued a community alert last month when a dozen similar burglaries were reported across the city dating back to June 6.
Baranski, of the 2700 block of West Harrison, also faces a misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession charge.
A judge set his bond at $100,000, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office. He is next due in court Aug. 3.
