(VOLO) An increased police presence in north suburban Volo late Wednesday was not related to the ongoing manhunt for three people suspected in the fatal shooting of police Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz in nearby Fox Lake, officials said.
About 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers in the Lake County Sheriff’s office were dispatched to a corn field near the area of Route 12 south of Route 20 after they received a call of two suspicious people, said Detective Chris Covelli, a sheriff’s office spokesman.
Officers arrived in the area a short time later and set up a perimeter. Canine and air support also were added, but neither of the two people were seen by authorities, Covelli said, adding that there was “nothing to substantiate” any connection to the Fox Lake manhunt.
