(CHICAGO) If you want to be an Uber driver, but you don’t own a car, there is hope for you. Chris Taylor, the General Manager of the Uber ride-sharing service in Chicago tells “The Big John Howell Show” on WLS, that Uber is launching it’s own car leasing service for potential drivers who do not currently own a vehicle.
Taylor told WLS, “The exchange leasing program is addressing one of the biggest barriers to people who want to partner with Uber, which is owning a car. Uber doesn’t require you to pay a lease to take a car out like a taxi system. You don’t have to pay a fee to join the system but you do have to have a car that’s eligible to drive. So what this program is designed to do is to help people who otherwise can’t get a car, go get a car and then be able to make money”
Under the Uber Xchange leasing program, prospective drivers can lease a vehicle from the company and drive it for their personal use, in addition to driving for Uber. The weekly leasing rates will range from $80-$150, which includes basic maintenance and unlimited mileage.
