(McHENRY) High schools in northwest suburban McHenry are closed Thursday as teachers begin a strike following unsuccessful contract negotiations.
Picket lines were expected to go up at 6:45 a.m., according to the McHenry Community High School Teachers Association’s website.
“We are working to resolve significant issues that are important to both sides,” a statement from the association said. “The Board submitted its last and final proposal which is unacceptable to the Association … We stand ready to negotiate the differences with the Board to resolve this as soon as possible.”
