(CHICAGO) Volkswagen’s top American boss goes to Capitol Hill, today, where lawmakers looking into the company’s emissions cheating scandal will ask him a lot of questions. They want to know, among other things, who made the call to rig diesel emissions technology to pass U.S. smog tests and why the devices went undetected for so long.
VW doesn’t have a big political imprint in D.C. – in other words – only moderate lobbying and fundraising compared to automakers like Toyota, General Motors, and Ford.
Volkswagen Group of America CEO Michael Horn appears before the House Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. It’s his first time testifying before Congress.
Also, Attorneys General in over 2 dozen states, including Illinois, have launched an investigation of Volkswagen.
