(CHICAGO) Trains on Metra’s Union Pacific North Line are stopped in both directions Friday morning after a train struck and killed a pedestrian on the North Side, officials said.
Train No. 320 hit a pedestrian about 8:15 a.m. near Belmont and Ravenswood, according to Metra and Chicago Fire Department officials.
The pedestrian was killed, Fire Media Affairs said.
All trains have been halted in both directions at Clybourn, Metra said. Train No. 319, which was scheduled to depart Chicago at 8:35 a.m. and arrive in Waukegan at 9:54 a.m., will not depart until the tracks are cleared.
The CTA will be honoring Metra tickets for riders affected by the delays on the Brown Line at the Damen station, and on the Purple Line at the Davis, Central and Linden stations, according to a Metra service alert.
