The federal indictment of Barbara Byrd-Bennett… Former school board member and now U-S Senate candidate Andrea Zopp is talking to Bill Cameron about it.
Zopp said she’s shocked and offended by Barbara Byrd-Bennett’s betrayal but Zopp is a member of the school board who voted twice for the crooked contract in question.
“She actively deceived us, and was engaging in criminal conduct that was only uncovered after over a yearlong investigation by the FBI,” said Zopp.
I asked Zopp if as a lawyer she believed she did her due diligence on the SUPES contract. She responded, “I think certainly we knew Dr. Byrd-Bennett had a relationship with SUPES, we believed that relationship to be as a former employee, we had no idea- and in fact, she said she had no current financial relationship with SUPES or its management and that proved to be a lie and a deception.”
And while taping “Connected to Chicago” for Sunday night at 7, Zopp said she’s already raised more than a million dollars in her race against Tammy Duckworth.
