(CHICAGO) An Illinois State Senator is pushing for term limits for the four legislative leaders.
State Sen. Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant (D-Plainfield) is pushing a constitutional amendment limiting the House Speaker, House Minority Leader, Senate President and Senate Minority Leader to just eight year terms.
The amendment would have to be put to voters on the ballot. Gov. Bruce Rauner also has been pushing for term limits but for all lawmakers, not just the legislative leaders.
