(CHICAGO) A Cook County judge is set to decide on Thursday, whether to release an explosive video of a white Chicago Police officer shooting a black teenager to death.
Last October, the officer killed 17 year old LaQuan McDonald, shooting the teen 16 times, while McDonald was high on PCP, and armed with a four inch folding knife.
Attorney Craig Futterman tells “The Big John Howell Show” on WLS, that police dash cam video of the shooting, should be released. “There’s nothing more important than when we’re talking about oversight of our government, when an officer takes a life or the State takes the life of another human being, people have a right to know, what went down”.
Last week Mayor Emanuel told reporters he does not want the explosive video released to the public while an investigation is going on into the shooting. “You have, obviously, an investigation. You never release a video while that investigation is going on. At the appropriate time the appropriate entities, and how that video gets to be public, will be handled”.
The city has already settled with the McDonald family for five million dollars.
