(CHICAGO) There is a giant barge docked along the Riverwalk at Wabash and Wacker. Turns out it is part of an effort to get people out and exercise.
The barge will be the setting for people to train and exercise beginning November 9th. It’s part of Nike’s #GETOUTHERE campaign.
“Throughout the week Nike’s going to be hosting open workouts starting on Wednesday through Saturday as well as we’ll be doing a lot of runs with our Nike Plus Run Club out of the venue,” said Nike spokeswoman Lisa Beachy.
Why the barge?
“So we wanted to take advantage of a central destination so passers by could experience it,” Beachy said. “It would give us some basically kind of untouched area that hasn’t been utilized from an athletic perspective and how we could maximize that and to us brining in the barge was that extra added element.”
People can start making reservations to join in on the daily workouts beginning Saturday morning at nike.com/chicago.
