(CHICAGO) At City Hall another group of activists showed up at the mayor’s door demanding him to resign and calling for new civilian control of the police dept to be enacted.
How would you feel about ordinary citizens elected from each police district to control the police dept? Not a new idea, but in the current climate Jeffrey Baker of the Alliance Against Racist & Political Repression was pushing it at the mayor’s door.
“It would allow the people to take control of the decision making process,” Baker said. “Right now the decision making process is in the hands of politicians and politicians are politicking with our lives.”
Listen to Bill Cameron’s report for WLS news radio:
Baker says he’s looking for an alderman brave enough to sponsor a Civilian Police Accountability Council ordinance.
