(CHICAGO) First party bosses decided not to endorse in the race for states attorney. Now, Frank Zucarelli – the committeeman of the township that leads all others in delivering Democrat votes, Thornton Township – is endorsing Kim Foxx instead of incumbent Anita Alvarez.
This kind of political support is being engineered by Foxx’s mentor, Toni Preckwinkle, the Cook County Board President who is committeewoman of the 4th ward and says Alvarez should resign.
“My overarching concern is that as we’ve struggled to bring reform to the criminal justice system, what I’ve said repeatedly is I’ve had to drag her kicking and screaming,” said Preckwinkle.
So support for Foxx is on the rise, but there’s another challenger, Donna More, who divides the anti-Alvarez vote and that has Alvarez leading in the polls.
