News Release from the Illinois Department of Transportation for Public Notice
(CHICAGO) The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced that starting Sunday, Jan. 10, overnight lane closures will take place over several days, including a full closure of southbound Lake Shore Drive (U.S. 41), as part of reconstruction of the interchange between Lake Shore Drive and the Stevenson Expressway (Interstate 55). The closures are required for the installation of new bridge beams.
The following nightly lane closures will take place, weather permitting, from Sunday, Jan. 10, to Thursday, Jan. 14:

Southbound Lake Shore Drive: Starting at 1 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 10, all lanes will be closed until 7 a.m. Sunday. All lanes will be closed nightly, Monday, Jan. 11, through Thursday, Jan. 14, from 1 to 5 a.m. The posted detour will direct traffic from southbound Lake Shore Drive to the southbound Stevenson ramp to exit at State Street. Motorists should re-enter the inbound Stevenson to access the southbound Lake Shore Drive ramp.

Inbound Stevenson to northbound Lake Shore Drive ramp: The ramp will be closed Sunday, Jan. 10, from 1 to 7 a.m. The ramp also will be closed nightly, Monday, Jan. 11, through Thursday Jan. 14, from 1 to 5 a.m. The posted detour will direct traffic to the inbound Stevenson and to southbound Lake Shore Drive ramp. Motorists should exit at the 31st Street exit and immediately re-enter northbound Lake Shore Drive.
