(CHICAGO) The professor that officials at Wheaton College are trying to fire is speaking out.

Political Science professor Larycia Hawkins is reacting to the news that the Christian college has initiated termination-for-cause proceedings against her…

“Wheaton College will never induce me to kowtow to their double speak concerning the statement of faith so as to appease an imaginary constituency that clearly knows little about what academic freedom or Christian love mean or to placate platinum donors to their coffers,” Hawkins said.

Hawkins was placed on leave because of statements she made on social media about similarities between Islam and Christianity. Hawkins also donned a headscarf to demonstration solidarity with Muslims.
