(CHICAGO) Illinois State Police are trying to crack down on expressway shootings in Chicago. They say that over the last couple of years, gang-related gun violence has spilled onto Chicago area expressways.
At least seven people have been shot, on expressways, this year. One person has died.
As a result, police are launching the “Chicago Expressway Anti-Violence Surge” or “CEASe.”
In a new public service announcement, troopers say they’re using various methods in an effort to catch the bad guys.
“We’ll use aircraft, video cameras, covert vehicles, and undercover officers for surveillance,” said Illinois State Police Captain David Byrd.
There will also be extra uniformed troopers on patrol to help with the effort.
