(HODGKINS) A person was killed when their car collided with a semi truck early Wednesday on the Stevenson Expressway in southwest suburban Hodgkins, police said.
The crash happened about 2:30 a.m. in the outbound lanes of I-55 near South La Grange Road, according to Illinois State Police.
The person, who was the only occupant of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.
The truck driver was not injured, police said. Additional details were not immediately available.
All southbound lanes of the expressway remained closed to traffic as of 3:30 a.m., while police investigate the crash.
