(CHICAGO) Democratic Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle is denouncing Republican Presidential frontrunner Donald Trump.
Preckwinkle was asked on “The Big John Howell Show” on WLS, whether she is enjoying seeing establishment Republicans squirm over the prospect of the bombastic businessman as the GOP nominee in November.
Preckwinkle responded, “The frontrunner of the Republican party is somebody who’s made disrespectful remarks about women, who says we shouldn’t allow Muslims into the country, who apparently doesn’t know who David Duke is and refuses to repudiate him. I mean, I think that’s bad for the country, so no, I’m not enjoying it. I worry about him being the Republican nominee and what it says about us as a country.”
Several influential Republicans, including the party’s 2012 Presidential nominee Mitt Romney, have denounced Trump, saying they fear his nomination could ensure Hillary Clinton’s election as President.
