(CHICAGO) Another leading Hispanic politician is endorsing State House Speaker Mike Madigan (D-Chicago) over his Hispanic challenger Jason Gonzales.
First Jesus “Chuy” Garcia and now U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Chicago) tells me he’s backing Madigan despite the fact the 22nd House District is more than 70-percent Hispanic.
“It’s not just your last name but where are you in terms of your ideology,” Gutierrez said. “Where are you in terms of your principle. Where are you in terms of your commitment. What are your priorities. Listen, I’m going to vote for somebody with the right priorities, not the right last name.”
Gutierrez says Gov. Bruce Rauner’s union-busting agenda is wrong and Madigan is in the best position to keep blocking it.
