(CHICAGO) A 70-year-old woman died early Thursday while aboard an airplane en route from Japan to O’Hare International Airport.
Patricia E. Moy, who lived in the 300 block of West 27th Street, was pronounced dead at 3:15 a.m. on JAL Airlines flight 010 from Narita, Japan, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy was scheduled for Friday.
Doctors, who were also passengers aboard the flight, responded to a call for medical assistance upon a report of an unconscious passenger, according to a statement from JAL Airlines. The doctors attended to Moy, but she was later declared deceased.
“Japan Airlines expresses its deepest condolences to the passenger’s family and loved ones, and the airline also sincerely thanks the doctors who responded,” the statement said.
