On Wednesday, President Obama announced that Merrick Garland would be his pick for the Supreme Court seat vacated when Antonin Scalia died. Republican leaders in the Senate are already saying the Garland will not even get a hearing. Ken Rosenthal is reporting that Adam LaRoche decided to retire after the Kenny Williams told him his son couldn’t be in the clubhouse every day anymore. 14 year old Drake LaRoche was in the clubhouse so much last year they actually gave him his own locker.
People buying certain tobacco products or paying for a cab ride with a credit card in Chicago will have to dig a bit deeper after the City Council on Wednesday voted to increase taxes and fees. Mayor Rahm Emanuel also persuaded the council to raise the legal age to buy cigarettes or other tobacco products in the city to 21 by tweaking the proposal on higher taxes on chewing tobacco, cigars and loose tobacco. Big blow for freedom of speech: The “Donald Trump Has Tiny Hands PAC” has been ordered to change its name. Apparently, they have to find one that doesn’t include Trump’s name or face an “audit or enforcement action.”

Frank Sinatra Jr., the son of the legendary entertainer who had a long musical career of his own, died Wednesday. Singer Nancy Sinatra said on her Facebook page that her brother died of cardiac arrest.
