The Supreme Court gave Blago a thumbs down. The Chicago Sun-Times editorial board thinks it’s time to re-think Blago’s sentence. Just about everyone would agree Blago had to punished and punished severely, but is having him sit in a jail cell for 14 years a little excessive? Eddie Johnson, a 27-year Chicago police veteran who was appointed Monday to lead the embattled Chicago Police Department, said he plans to focus on reducing gun violence and restoring public trust. Johnson is now charged with leading a department that is not only low on morale and credibility, but also has failed to quell a recent spike in gun violence. Chicago Alderman Nicholas Sposato from the 38th Ward joined John with reaction. (Listen here)
Mississippi Senator Roger Wicker is Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee. He joined John to talk about the race between Mark Kirk and Tammy Duckworth here in Illinois, and the chances of the Republicans holding onto the Senate in the 2016 election. (Listen here)
The fight between Apple and the FBI is officially over. The FBI reportedly came up with their own way to hack the San Bernardino shooters phone, so they’re dropping their legal action against Apple. Fred Cate the Director of the Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research at Indiana University joined John with reaction to the end of the fight. (Listen here)
A teacher on the South Side has been told that if they don’t join the “Day Of Action” on April 1st, they’ll be kicked out of the union. CPS President Forrest Claypool meanwhile is telling people that they will be paid if they come in to work that day.
A Philadelphia brewery has introduced a new series of Donald Trump inspired beers. They are calling it their “Friends Don’t Let Friends Vote Drumpf” series. Drumpf coming from an episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Drumpf was the original version of Trump’s family name. The first beer is a “short-fingered stout,” which they describe as bitter and delusional with an airy, light-colored head.
