(CHICAGO) At today’s City Council meeting, Eddie Johnson has been unanimously confirmed to be Chicago Police Superintendent.
Fifty to nothing was the roll call for the popular cop. Former cop, now alderman, Anthony Napolitano (41st) explained why like this.
“I don’t think there’s anybody, anybody that has anything bad to say about you. That’s incredible. Keep it up.”
But Ald. Ed Burke (14th) added this.
“You know what Mr. Superintendent, that’s going to change real quick,” Burke said to laughter.
And the mayor who appointed Eddie Johnson, Rahm Emanuel, gave Johnson this assurance.
“You’re not in this fight alone, we’re joining you.”
Emanuel tapped Johnson after passing over the top three candidates chosen by the Chicago Police Board.
