Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton came home to New York and both won big. Trump used his dominating victory as an opportunity to make his case that the only way he’ll be denied the Republican nomination is if the game is rigged. Clinton reveled in her win, which broke Bernie Sanders’ string of successes in the West and Midwest. The victories pushed both candidates much closer to their parties’ nominations, leaving their opponents no room for error if either is to be stopped. Illinois State Representative Ron Sandack from the 81st district checked in for his weekly update on the goings-on in Springfield. Sandack talked about the progress of the bill on Daily Fantasy Sports betting, and also reacted to State Comptroller Leslie Munger’s decision to stop paying lawmakers because of the budget impasse in Springfield. According to a new poll, no one out there trusts the news media anymore. Just 6 percent of people say they have a lot of confidence in the media, putting the news industry about equal to Congress. Two months ago, then-interim Chicago police Supt. John Escalante handed down a one-year suspension to a detective involved in the botched investigation that cleared former Mayor Richard M. Daley’s nephew in David Koschman’s death. But Escalante later signed off on a deal that will allow the detective, Nicholas Spanos, to shave as much as 10 months from that suspension. Chicago Sun-Times Investigative Reporter Chris Fusco joined John with the latest twist and turns in the story. (Listen here)
