On Wednesday, Dennis Hastert, once the third most powerful elected leader in the country, acknowledged he sexually abused several boys he coached on the Yorkville High School wrestling team in the 1960s and 1970s. In the wake of the Hastert case, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is calling on lawmakers to eliminate the statute of limitations for child sex crimes. She has the support of organizations fighting to stop abuse, including the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests.
On top of everything else, Dennis Hastert may be removed from the wrestling hall of fame. Incidentally, the wrestling hall of fame includes George Washington, Theodore Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln and actor Kirk Douglas.
Ted Cruz formally named Carly Fiorina as his vice presidential running mate Wednesday — a last-ditch move to regain momentum after being mathematically eliminated from winning the GOP presidential nomination outright.
