(VILLA PARK) A woman was fatally struck by a Metra train Monday morning in west suburban Villa Park, hours after another pedestrian was killed by a train in Bartlett.
The woman, thought to be in her 50s, was struck by inbound Union Pacific/West Line train No. 44 near the Villa Park station about 11:15 a.m., according to Metra spokesman Tom Miller and Villa Park police.
The DuPage County coroner’s office confirmed confirmed the death, but no additional details were provided.
Trains were halted in both directions after the crash, but were on the move again Monday afternoon with extensive delays, according to Metra’s website.
About 6:40 a.m., a pedestrian was fatally struck by a Metra Milwaukee District/West Line train in northwest suburban Bartlett, authorities said. That person was also killed.
