Martha P. Strauss | St. Charles police

(ST. CHARLES) A 52-year-old Geneva woman was arrested and charged Tuesday with stealing more than $100,000 from a veterinary clinic in west suburban St. Charles.

Martha P. Strauss, of the 200 block of South Harrison Street, was charged with two felony counts of theft of greater than $100,000 but less than $500,000, according to a statement from St. Charles police.

She is alleged to have taken funds from the St. Charles Veterinary Clinic while employed as their business manager from 2009-2015 by making the thefts appear as routing business transactions, police said. It was discovered on Dec. 23, 2015, that an employee had been stealing money.

She was released on $25,000 bond, police said. Her next court date is June 9.
