Earlier this week. Chick-fil-A introduced its new One app. Within three days, the app as downloaded over one million times and since Wednesday, has been the most downloaded free app at iTunes.
So how did this happen? Well, the chicken sandwiches ARE good! And you can get a free chicken sandwich just for downloading the App. Plus like most service industry apps, there’s the promise of faster service. So there’s convenience.
But are there other reasons for this spectacular debut?
We all know about the controversies. Due to personal and public beliefs of their operators, some boycotted the chicken sandwich chain. But the end result was more business due to appreciation for the company’s ideology.
On the other hand, as The Atlantic notes, a number of Chick-fil-A operators joined in the company’s Cell Phone Coop challenge, where stores would dish out free ice cream to families that could make it through an entire meal with their phones locked up in little boxes set up on each table.
Then, of course, there’s America’s love for technology and gadgets. Like phones. Like Chick-fil-A. And the App helps those who love the brand a step closer. Plus you won’t have to wait in line!
The Atlantic has a much deeper look at the story…and the new One app here.
