(CHICAGO) After getting a lot of flack from riders, the CTA Monday returned the No. 11 Lincoln Avenue bus to service.
It’s been more than three years since the No. 11 bus went away, but it’s still not here to stay at this point as this is just a pilot restoration of service between Western and Fullerton.
The route was cut in 2012 after the CTA said with the nearby Brown Line, the No. 11 bus was redundant.
Ald. Ameya Pawar (47th) along with a handful of community members led the fight to see the service returned, oftentimes packing CTA board meetings.
Last month the CTA agreed to a six-month pilot that will run through the end of the year.
The CTA has set a target of 1,500 riders per day but the service, as of now, is only running weekdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
