(CHICAGO) Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s controversial ride-share regulations have been approved by the City Council.
Fiesty, sometimes profane debate produced some drama, but when the roll was called the aldermen approved Emanuel’s ride-share compromise 36 to 12.
During debate Floor Leader Pat O’Connor said the differences were a good thing.
“We are engaged, in this chamber, in something that doesn’t happen south of us in Springfield and doesn’t happen in Washington, D.C. They don’t compromise and nothing happens.”
Fingerprinting of ride share drivers is not in the deal, but will be reviewed after a six month study.
