(CHICAGO) Just in time for the busy holiday weekend that brings thousands of visitors to North Avenue Beach, the pedestrian bridge over Lake Shore Drive has reopened.

The rehabilitation project began on April 11, and resulted in temporary overnight lane closures in both directions on Lake Shore Drive.

According to the Chicago Department of Transportation, “the bridge was originally built in 1940 and the last major work was done in 1991.”
