(CHICAGO) 3 young children were injured when they were hit by a CTA bus Monday morning. The crash happened around 9:00 Monday morning near the 3600 block of N. Halsted Street in the city’s East Lakeview neighborhood.
Police spokeswoman Ana Pacheco said the #8 Halsted bus was traveling northbound when it hit a mother and her 3 kids. The force of the accident knocked an 8-week old baby from the mother’s arms. Thankfully, the baby was screaming and conscious when first responders arrived.
The baby and two other children, aged 6 and 2, were all taken to Lurie Children’s Hospital with unknown injuries. A hospital spokesperson didn’t give details, but said all were stable. The bus driver was also injured in the crash- he was taken to Illinois Masonic in good condition.
No word yet on the cause of the crash or if that driver will face any charges.
