(CHICAGO) Encouraging education, Lollapalooza features the Kidzapalooza stage, which does not only cater to the youth in attendance, but features performing children, teens and young adults.

There has been an ongoing partnership between Lollapalooza and Berklee College of Music in Boston since 2011, allowing multiple scholarships to go to students studying music.

“Five years ago, Lollapalooza celebrated its 20th anniversary, and Berklee and Lolla celebrated together by announcing the endowed scholarship,” said Berklee professor Jeff Dorenfeld, who developed the partnership with Lollapalooza producers C3 Presents.

This partnership allowed the opportunity for the folk trio Honeysuckle to perform on the Kidzapalooza stage multiple times over the Lollapalooza 2016 weekend.

Honeysuckle was scheduled to perform at noon on Saturday at the Pepsi stage, but added a surprise extra performance the next day. On Sunday, July 31, the band comprised of Holly McGarry, Chris Bloniarz, and Benjamin Burns were the special guests at 4:45 p.m., playing four songs before the Recess Monkeys took the stage at Kidzapalooza.

“The scholarships are life-changing for the recipients, while the partnership also affects, educates, and enables many more Berklee students to meet their dreams and aspirations through the festival performance and their work at Kidzapalooza,” Dorenfeld said. “Together, we build careers in music.”
