(CHICAGO) An Aurora man has pleaded guilty to killing a DuPage County jail nurse in March 2014.
Jose Loera agreed to the plea deal just as his trial was about to start.
Heather Jacobi had an order of protection against Loera, her ex-boyfriend, after the two had physical fights.
Prosecutors say when he found out that she had been exchanging texts with another man, he became enraged, strangling the nurse with her with a scarf and then using her stethoscope to make sure she was dead.
Loera faces up to 80 years in prison when he sentenced in November.
