More Chicago Violence on an Unusually Warm November Day

(CHICAGO) At least 2 people were killed and 10 others wounded in shootings, Tuesday, on Chicago’s South and West sides.
This after Chicago saw its deadliest weekend this year.
Just after midnight Tuesday, a 51-year old man was shot to death by someone in a passing car on the 600 block of North Ridgeway on the city’s the West Side.  It happened just a couple of hours after 19-year old Gerald Gordon was killed and a 22-year old man wounded in a shooting in the Roseland neighborhood…on the Far South Side.
What followed were several other non-fatal shootings on the city’s South and West sides.  At least 10 people were wounded.
Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson says more than 200 new police officers graduated from the academy this week, but police can’t stop the violence on their own…
“More cops out there is a deterrent but we can’t be everywhere.  So, we need our community partners.  Everybody has a vested interest in reducing this crime, out there,” said Superintendent Johnson.

Johnson has repeatedly called for stricter sentencing laws for repeat offenders.
