(CHICAGO) Two teenagers have been charged as adults in the fatal shooting of the 15-year-old grandson of U.S. Rep. Danny Davis (D-Chicago).
Police say 15-year-old Javon Wilson was fatally shot in his Englewood home Friday evening when the two teenagers came in and started an argument over a borrowed pair of gym shoes and a borrowed pair of pants.
On Sunday, 16-year-old Tarik Harris and 17-year-old Di’Jae Banks were charged as adults with first-degree murder and home invasion. The judge denied bail for the teens, calling them a “grave danger to the community.”
On Saturday, Davis questioned why the teens had a gun.
“How does a 15-year-old have a level of conformability carrying a gun and figuring out a way to shoot someone with it,” Davis said.
On Saturday, a small crowd gathered outside of the Democrat’s West Side office to offer prayers and support.
