(HARVEY) During an undercover operation Sunday evening, police captured a man wanted for the murder of a CN security guard.
Harvey police received a tip that 24-year-old Rashad Williams would be in Chicago Heights Sunday evening, according to city spokesman Sean Howard. Harvey police and Chicago Heights police worked together to set up several undercover stings. Williams was captured at 8:30 p.m. without incident. He is charged with the first-degree murder of 38-year-old Tyrone Hardin.
On Saturday, Harvey Mayor Eric J. Kellogg put up a reward for information about Williams. This was the “key ingredient” in getting the right people to call in with tips, Howard said.
Michele Hardin, Tyrone’s sister, said the news was “bittersweet” but now she can begin to heal, according to Howard who spoke to her over the phone.
Williams, of East Hazel Crest, will appear in bond court on Monday.
