(CHICAGO) CTA workers will take part in a “day of action” across the city today but say it won’t inconvenience commuters.
It all starts at 8:30 outside of the Jackson Lewis law firm at 150 North Michigan Avenue, followed by a noon rally outside of CTA headquarters on West Lake Street.
CTA union members are demanding a fair contract and also say they’re protesting on their own time – not – walking off the job.
The Transit Worker’s Union says that, among other things, the CTA is making proposals that lack pay raises and cuts 2 holidays per year.
The CTA says that some of the union’s claims are untrue. The agency also says its union workers are the second-highest paid in the nation, and in their last contract received a wage increase of 10.25 percent over four years.
Today’s “Day of Action” wraps-up with a rally at the 95th Street Red Line station at 4:30 p.m.
