(CHICAGO) Former Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy’s attorney is firing back at insinuations that McCarthy had some type of relationship with the wife of former Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr.
Jackson and his wife Sandi, the former 7th Ward Alderman, are involved in a heated divorce battle, and last month an attorney for Jackson Jr. filed subpoenas against McCarthy and two other men, seeking information about any personal or business relationships they had with Sandi Jackson.
McCarthy’s attorney Morgan Stogsdill, was in Cook County court on Tuesday, arguing that McCarthy has “absolutely nothing to do with the Jackson divorce.”
Stogsdill has reached an agreement with Jackson Jr.’s attorney to back off from their request to force McCarthy to answer questions under oath. The Jackson attorneys could re-visit the issue in the future.
The Chicago Tribune says the parties will be back on court on February 27th.
