(MELROSE PARK) A father and son are charged in connection with the shooting death of a 16-year-old, in Melrose Park, last weekend.
Melrose Park police say when a fight broke out in front of Reinald Collazo Sr.’s apartment he came out with a gun, fired a shot into the air, and then his son grabbed the weapon. They say 22-year-old Reinaldo Collazo Jr. pulled the trigger shooting 16-year-old Julian Hernandez in the chest. Hernandez was pronounced dead a short time later.
According to police, the father and son are gang members, as was Hernandez.
Reinaldo Collazo Jr. is charged with first-degree murder.
His 49-year-old father is charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, having a gun without a FOID card, and obstructing justice.
