(CHICAGO) A Southwest Side man has been given 25 years in prison for killing a teenager at a birthday party.
40-year old Adan Montano pleaded guilty to stabbing 18-year old Stephanie Serrano in the face, arms and chest at his roommate’s birthday party in 2014.
Prosecutors say Montano was acting “strange and belligerent.” He then allegedly drank a cleaning product and later that night – came out of his room with a butcher knife. Authorities say Montano went after his roommate and a woman, who were able to get away, but Serrano fell down and was attacked. It didn’t stop until the roommate returned and hit Montano in the head with a pool cue.
Montano later admitted he attacked Serrano because the partygoers had beaten him earlier in the evening and when he confronted them about it, they laughed at him. Adan Montano is now doing his time at Stateville prison.
