(CHICAGO) Former Chicago Police Supt Garry McCarthy was on the attack against Mayor Emanuel today during an interview here on WLS with Big John and Ray.
McCarthy called Mayor Emanuel’s administration “illegitimate,” and when asked by WLS’ John Dempsey if he’s thinking of running against the mayor who fired him.
McCarthy said this, “A lot of people are encouraging me to do that. Politics is not in my DNA. I’m not very good at that. As you guys know, I’m very straight forward but I can tell you this, I would support anybody who would start thinking about performance-based government rather than politics. There is nobody holding anybody accountable. It’s all about politics and communication strategy and, I’m sorry, that’s just doesn’t work to get things done, in a big city.”
When I asked the mayor if he had any reaction to McCarthy, Emanuel said this, “None.”
