(CHICAGO) Bond has been set at $200,000 for a west suburban gymnastics coach who is charged with attacking a woman who was jogging on a nature trail in DuPage County on Monday afternoon.
Matthew D. Grover, 31, of Winfield is accused of sneaking up behind a woman on the Illinois Prairie Path in Wheaton and grabbing her in a bear hug. Authorities say the woman started screaming, attracting the attention of others, and Grover ran off.
He is also a suspect in a similar incident last fall. DuPage Sheriff’s police say Grover confessed to the September attack. They are awaiting DNA test results to see if he is a match in that case.
Grover is charged with aggravated battery and unlawful restraint.
Police looked at surveillance video, after the recent alleged attack and saw a blue minivan leaving the path which, they say, belongs to Grover’s relatives.
