(CHICAGO) Legislation pending in the Illinois Senate aims to lower the number of veteran suicides.
The bill strives to better match veterans with services that are available to them. That includes counseling, job training and more.
“One veteran lost to suicide is one too many,” said State Sen. Tom Cullerton (D-Villa Park). “The proposals outlined in this legislation are common sense solutions to help Illinois remove our barriers between veterans and the resources they qualify for.”
The measure also would help returning soldiers get through paperwork and red tape. The bill has already passed through the House.
