(SPRINGFIELD) – Nearly three tons of meat products is being recalled in Illinois by a Pennsylvania-based company. The Illinois State Meat Inspection Service reports Marcho Farms, Inc. recalled the meat that may have been shipped to Illinois, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania,South Carolina and Virginia. This meat may be contaminated with E.coli.
The Souderton, Pennsylvania company said these four products are being recalled:
• 60-lb cases of “veal boneless trimmings halal” with case code 5398.
• 60-lb cases of “veal trimmings USDA Choice” with case code 98.
• 9-lb cases of “veal, beef, pork ground for meatloaf” with case code 3122.
• 10-lb cases of “veal, beef, pork ground for Meatloaf bulk pack” with case code 3125.
The state inspection service was notified on Tuesday that samples had tested positive for contamination. However, no confirmed reports of adverse reactions have been reported due to their consumption. There is concern that some of these products may be frozen. You’re advised to throw them away if you have them, or return them to the retailer.
This strain of E. coli outbreaks are rare. Most people recover within a week and experience dehydration, abdominal cramps, and bloody diarrhea after exposure. The very young and very old are most susceptible.
